Independent Legal Counsel Is Extremely Important
California marital agreements are subject to strict legal requirements and are frequently challenged years later during divorce proceedings. While every case is different, failure of a party to have independent legal counsel can create significant enforceability issues and may increase the likelihood of future challenges to the agreement. If you get married or divorced in California without a Prenuptial Agreement which is also known as a Premarital Agreement, you can lose your property rights, your pension, your business, your investments, your money, your vehicle, your furniture, and more.
